The first part of this trail has recently been diverted by a volunteer trail Conference, New York-New Jersey, and now follows the route of interest through the Valley of the River (not the way Woods draws).
About a mile from the start, Lake Sonoma trail blazing orange joins from the right. Two roads run in tandem for a short distance, but when they diverge, turn left, follow the yellow blazes. Manaticut point trail now rises faster, then more gradually. It switchbacks to the top of the Hill, with a limited view through the trees on the left, then up to the balustrade facing wet below.
